Besides filling out the main return, Form T1, most Canadians will have some other papers to attach, but these are almost all prepared by other people. The main ones are Form T4 and receipts. People who file their returns electronically are expected to keep their T4s and receipts in case the Canada Revenue Agency wants to see them later.
Canadian Income Tax Return, Form T1 General
Form T1 General is the basic personal income tax return. It comes in a tax package from the government along with a number of attachments called Schedules and a guide for completing the return. Very few people need to use all of the Schedules.
Starting in February, the package is available at no cost from the post office and other Canadian government locations. The same material is also on the Canada Revenue Agency's website and may be ordered by phone or online.
